A number of museums has already applied LED lighting. Did you know that the Mona Lisa is lighted by LED technology? This was a deliberate decision based on LED’s characteristics. A lighted LED does not emit any ultraviolet or infrared light. Ultraviolet and infrared radiation cause colour fading over time. This is a serious issue, especially for paintings,  because it means the quality of the painting will get worse every year. By using LED lighting in museums,  the original painting colours will not fade away.
