Frequently asked

1. How efficient are LEDs?

LED lights consume 80-90% less energy when compared to the equivalent incandescent light bulb. See the chart below for a comparison to incandescent bulbs.

2. How do I choose a suitable driver?

Each of the Lumotech drivers feature the Click & Go system and are designed to work with Lumoluce products, so any driver will power your LEDs. You have to make a decision based on your needs. Use the following steps to make your choice:

  • How many LEDs do I plan to install?
  • Do I want to be able to dim the LEDs or use a motion sensor?
  • If I’d like to dim the LEDs, what kind of dimmability would I prefer? (pulse switch, 1-10 Volt or mains dimmable)

3. What’s the maximum distance to extend a wire connected to the LED driver?

The maximum length to extend wires from the LED driver is 12 metres.

4. I have connected the LED modules and the driver, but the LEDs are not working.

Please check the following steps:

  • Is the plug connected to the socket?
  • Are all wires connected to the driver?
  • Are jumpers placed in all openings of the connector blocks so that the circuit is closed?

5. The LED spots are connected but I am not able to dim the LEDs.

  • Check if the wires on the DIM input on the LED driver are well connected.
  • In order to dim LEDs, always use a dimmable driver (dimmable drivers are L05011, L05016 and L05021).
  • If all LED modules are connected to the mains dimmable driver (L05021), you can check the tested dimmer list for the functionality of the LED modules in combination with the dimmer model.

6. The LED driver doesn’t work any more after I changed one or more LED modules.

When changing LED modules, make sure the power is off the driver. If you change the LED modules with the power still on, the LED modules can be damaged. Always read the instruction manual, where this is explicitly stated.

8. The LED driver keeps switching on and off. How is this possible?

The surrounding temperature of the LED driver should not exceed the driver’s specified ta value. Make sure when installing the driver that sufficient cooling is available and don’t place the driver in the sun.

7. Does Lumoluce include all necessary supplies in the same package?

Lumoluce sells complete sets, but most of the products are sold per piece. This gives you optimal flexibility.

So typically to connect a LED module one needs (1) a LED module, (2) a LED driver and optionally an (3) extension wire to connect more LED modules to the same driver.

9. Why are the LED modules/spots flickering?

Check the number of LEDs connected to the LED driver. If the number exceeds the driver’s specification, the (Lumotech) driver has a built-in protection mechanism that indicates overload, causing the LEDs to flicker.
